The new turbo diesel engine (173ps, 2.2-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder MZR-CD) of Mazda CX7 generates a top torque of 400Nm at 2000rpm, with smooth-as-silk power delivery and true punch at 1,600rpm for strong linear acceleration. The transmission is six-speed manual with an ‘overdrive’ top gear ratio of 0.711:1 and an Active Torque 4-wheel drive system unique to Mazda that diverts up to 50% of torque produced by the engine to the rear wheels to maintain traction.
The car, with an impressive road-presence and good on-road practicality, offers a world class driving experience by blending drive characteristics more inline with a sports car. It also boasts of a number of top notch safety features like the Rear Vehicle Monitoring system (RVM) and the Emergency Stop Signalling (ESS) system.
